General Information: Belle Plaine Community Education offers comprehensive driver's education for students aged 14 and older, covering both classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction. Our program fulfills the 30-hour classroom requirement necessary for obtaining a learner’s permit. The program fee includes both the 30-hour classroom instruction and 6 hours of behind-the-wheel experience. Classroom Instruction: 30 Hours Our classroom sessions combine engaging lectures, interactive class discussions, educational videos, and written exercises from the driver's manual, along with practice tests. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a blue card. Please ensure your student brings their school iPad to each class session. Behind-the-Wheel (BTW): 6 Hours The Behind-the-Wheel component provides students with practical driving experience on public roads and highways, under the guidance of a skilled instructor. This course is essential for students who have obtained their learner’s permit and must be successfully completed before they can proceed to their driver's examination. Teen Driver Safety: Parent Awareness Workshop - Fall 2025 TBD Are you aware of the real risks that teen drivers face? Do you know the specific restrictions that apply to new teen drivers? In this workshop, you'll gain a deeper understanding of the most common risks associated with teen driving and learn about the latest teen driver laws. You'll also discover practical strategies for positively influencing your teen's driving behavior.
